Email Bombs and Hoaxes

One important thing to remember when forwarding or replying to an email that has been sent to multiple recipients: Be considerate of the next person who will be receiving your mail.

Commonly Used Hoaxes

Sympathy Chain Letters - No kids need your email as last wish or to save their lives. If ever, the person whom you are supposed to send your email to is actually a victim of some well-calculated prank. Please take note of this because many have fallen for this. This is also the most harmful of all hoaxes.

Virus Scares - If you get an email warning you of a particular virus that's coming (that will change your registry upon reading the mail), junk it. You can't get a virus just by reading an e-mail. But never carelessly open any attachments. Be careful especially of Microsoft documents or excel files, they have been known to transmit macro virus.

AIDS - If somebody tells you that somebody injected an HIV on an unsuspecting moviehouse buff, trash it.

Secret Recipes - You will never get the secret recipe for a corporate giant's product.

Satanist Companies - Proctor & Gamble is not run by the Church of Satan. There was no racism confession on Opra. Anti-Perspirant is not a known cause of cancer. Your pet is safe when Febreeze used as directed.

Product Giveaways - Don't forward Email, Microsoft, Disney The GAP, VIctoria's Secret etc, are not giving away stuff for free.
