I've always admired Mich Dulce for her spunk. I remember her ranting about advertisers that called curly hair "frizzy", and I completely agreed with her on this because I've lived with "frizzy" hair nearly all my life (except for the 8 years that I've had my hair rebonded). You can actually see this spunk in her creations, particularly her hats, which many consider to be too crazy for humid Philippine weather.
Last May 25, we saw her donate one of her hats to UNICEF's Auction for Action. As of this writing, I can see that the hat has about 19 bidders and is now worth PhP9,000.
Here's the press release for the auction and Dulce's participation in the said event:
Filipino designer Mich Dulce pledges support to UNICEF by donating one of her hats to Auction for Action, a fundraising online auction to benefit children’s programs in the Philippines and worldwide. Signed on the back in gold by British music legend Adam Ant, the hat comes with a hand written note from both Dulce and Ant, a signed poster, a tour t-shirt from Ant’s current "The Good, The Mad and The Lovely Tour," a set of 4 badges, a wristband, and a plectrum he used at a recent gig at legendary London music venue The 100 Club. UNICEF’s Auction for Action goes live on May 25 at http://www.ebay.ph/unicef. This unique online auction in partnership with Ayala Malls Greenbelt, Ebay.ph, Cibo and Cibo di M brings together works of reputable artists in art, design, furniture, fashion, jewellery and photography along with exciting experiential packages. For more information, visit the auction website or call UNICEF Philippines at +632-758-1000.
It's great to see that that with that sass comes a giving heart. Hats off to you, Mich Dulce!
